Admission Requirements for the English Section

The rules issued by the Supreme Council of Universities, the University Council, and the Faculty Council determine a number of conditions on the basis of which admission to the language section is granted. These conditions are:

  1. The student must have obtained the General Secondary Certificate (Thanaweya Amma) in the same academic year of admission.
  2. The student must be accepted into the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, in the regular system, through the Coordination Office (Tansik), and in the same year of application (i.e., recent secondary education graduates).
  3. The student must obtain at least 80% of the final grade in the English language subject, with preference given to graduates from schools where the first foreign language is English.
  4. Students who hold the English Secondary Certificate (IGCSE) must have obtained at least a grade of (C) in English.
  5. Students who hold an American High School Diploma must have obtained at least a grade of (C) in English.
  6. Preference in student admission will be based on the total score determined by the Supreme Council of Universities, which includes the overall General Secondary Certificate score, the English language subject score, and the score of the advanced level English language subject, if applicable.
  7. Priority for acceptance will be given to students nominated directly to the faculty through the Coordination Office. Students transferring from other universities will only be accepted if there are vacant seats, based on the same criteria and within the remaining capacity from the original phase.
  8. The Faculty Council issues a decision, approved by the University President, to certify the results of the admission to the language section, thereby making those included in the decision officially accepted into the section.

Medical Examination

After the student is nominated for admission to the faculty, the student is not considered officially enrolled in the faculty until they undergo a medical examination at the university's medical administration, pay the required tuition fees, and obtain the university ID card.

The student receives a medical examination form, approved by the Student Affairs Administration, and proceeds to the faculty's medical administration for the necessary medical check-ups, which are conducted on the specified dates for the faculty. The medical examination ensures that the student is free from infectious diseases and is medically fit to pursue their studies.

Study System

The duration of study to obtain a Bachelor's degree in English section is four academic years, divided into eight semesters, with two semesters in each academic year. Specialization in Accounting begins in the third year. The study is based on lectures and practical lessons. To graduate, the student must successfully pass the courses listed in the approved faculty curriculum, which range between 50-51 courses spread over 8 semesters.

The study in the English section  is distinguished by lower classroom density, with all lectures held in small rooms and halls that do not exceed 100 students. There is a trend to reduce the number in general sections to 80 students (for the first and second years). As for specialized sections in Accounting (third and fourth years), classroom density decreases significantly, with the number in some specializations dropping to less than 25 students. This environment allows for a high degree of interaction between students and professors, improving students' academic performance and maximizing the professors' potential.

The english section at the faculty is also taught by an elite group of distinguished professors who have received their education from prestigious universities and are highly regarded in their respective fields of expertise.
